Recently, I completed an image inspired by the mushrooms of Galicia. It was such a fun project to work on, offering a fascinating dive into the world of mushrooms and their ecosystems. It really makes you think on a different scale and approach your work with a more serene perspective. Take a look at the result! 🍄

By now, you’ve probably heard of the many tools online that allow you to create videos from a prompt. Some of the most advanced ones can even generate videos from another video or an image. I was curious to see how well these tools would work with my image and how much effort it would take to make the result look good. Turns out, not too much - or at least enough to create a visually striking image without requiring intricate details or complete realism. While far from perfect, the flexibility of these tools is already impressive. The ability to highlight multiple objects for movement and define their direction is perhaps the most remarkable feature.

In my case, I explored two AI video generation tools: Runway Gen-3 and Kling AI. Both produced interesting results and are definitely worth checking out. I’m sure there are many more tools excelling in their own domains, and with Premiere Pro's generative extend tool nearing its release from beta, it’s clear the future of video creation is going to be exciting to explore.

Without further ado, here are the tests I made using my shrooms. The first two were created with Runway Gen-3:

I like the one that zooms in a bit more as it has less strange things happening, but both have similar problem of treating lens flare as a part of the object they are in front of. Here is another test I did with KlingAI:

Not bad at all, is it? Despite the strange movement of vegetation, it handles the light source very well, and it’s impressive that it manages to keep up with those changes. I’m sure the position of the light isn’t realistic, but who cares when it looks good, right?

That concludes my review of these tools. I’m in no way affiliated with any of them and encourage you to try them both for yourself, as I did—the trials are free. So, unleash your creativity and let still images speak on a whole new level.
